Internal Family Systems Therapy
A transformative approach to healing trauma.
Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapy is a transformative approach to healing trauma that recognizes the complex, multifaceted nature of the human psyche. Since its inception, IFS has empowered individuals to explore and harmonize their inner world, fostering profound personal growth and healing.
At its core, IFS posits that our minds are composed of various “parts,” each with its own perspectives, emotions, and goals. These parts can sometimes be at odds, leading to internal conflict and distress. In IFS, the goal is to help individuals identify and connect with their core “Self,” a state of inner calmness, compassion, and clarity. From this place of Self-leadership, one can engage with and heal wounded parts that carry the burdens of trauma.
The beauty of IFS lies in its non-pathologizing, deeply respectful approach. It views all parts as valuable, understanding that even those that appear self-sabotaging are often acting from a place of protection or fear, developed in response to past trauma. By working with these parts rather than against them, individuals can release these burdens, leading to lasting transformation.
Through IFS, clients often experience a greater sense of internal harmony and self-acceptance. As the burdens of trauma are lifted, individuals find themselves more connected to their authentic Self, which naturally facilitates healing, fosters resilience, and cultivates a deeper, more compassionate relationship with themselves and others.
I was trained in level one IFS therapy in March of 2003. IFS has played an important and powerful role in my own healing journey, and I’m excited to facilitate you in yours.
